The KLDA Special General Meeting convened at Hidden Gardens, Karen Lane off Karen Road, on February 21, 2024, at 5:30 PM. Chaired by Mr. Mburu Ngugi, the meeting aimed to address key agenda items, including adopting the Hon Treasurer’s report for the financial accounts of 2022, appointing auditors for 2023, and adopting the new KLDA Constitution

Opening Remarks: During the meeting, Mr. Samora Sikalieh, the KLDA Chairman, briefed attendees on the audited accounts for FY 2022, highlighting reduced expenditures compared to previous years. Concerns were raised about depreciating costs and the effectiveness of auditors, prompting resolutions for transparency measures. The adoption of the audited accounts was proposed and seconded, receiving majority approval.

Key Agenda Items:

  1. Adoption of Treasurer’s Report: The KLDA Chairman, Mr. Samora Sikalieh, presented the financial accounts for 2022, highlighting prudent expenditure cuts by the new committee. Members’ concerns were carefully attended to, resulting in the approval of the audited accounts.
  2. Appointment of Auditors: The appointment of auditors for the years 2023–2024 was discussed, with Parker Randal chosen to continue their services. Dr. Muguku expressed concerns about past timelines, prompting an agreement to address delays promptly.
  3. Adoption of a New KLDA Constitution: The meeting saw the presentation and adoption of a new KLDA Constitution, reflecting changing dynamics within Karen. The document, crafted with input from legal counsels and residents, aims to enhance neighborhood protection and association engagement.

Chairman Sikalieh expressed gratitude to attendees for their participation, encouraging continued engagement in the upcoming Annual General Meeting scheduled for March. With a productive session concluded, the meeting adjourned at 7:30 PM, marking a step forward for KLDA and its members.
